The Archive charts below list garment measurements. Compare the exact product and keep flat widths separate from circumference measurements. SOL includes boxy, oversized and closer-fitting cuts. Start with the chart for the exact garment rather than assuming the same size will fit identically across the collection.

How We Measure

Lay the piece flat on a hard surface. Smooth it out, do not stretch it. Measure in a straight line, edge to edge.

    LengthOn tops, the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem. On bottoms, the top of the waistband straight down to the hem — not the inseam.

    ChestOne inch below the armhole, across the front, seam to seam.

    ShoulderSeam to seam across the back, where the sleeves attach.

    SleeveShoulder seam down the outside of the arm to the cuff.

    WaistMeasure straight across the waistband without stretching. The chart shows this flat width: 38 cm means 38 cm across, approximately 76 cm around. Do not double your measurement when comparing it with the chart.

    HipWidest point below the waistband, across the front.

On Fit

True to size, with room

Check the product’s stated cut and compare its chest, length and shoulder measurements with a garment you already like. A dropped shoulder is part of the silhouette on some pieces.

Between two sizes

Compare both sizes across all measurements. Going down a size also changes length and sleeves; going up can add room beyond the area you want. Allow for the layers you intend to wear.

Care and fit

Follow the care label for the individual garment. Fabrics and finishes vary across SOL, so do not assume every piece responds to washing and drying in the same way.

Tolerance

Allow one to two centimetres of measurement variation.

Compare a piece you already own

  1. Choose a similar garment with a fit you enjoy. Use a tee to compare a tee, and a hoodie to compare a hoodie.
  2. Lay it flat without stretching and measure using the points described above. Keep flat widths separate from measurements around the body.
  3. Find the exact SOL product by name, then choose CM or IN. Keep the same unit throughout your comparison.
  4. Check length as well as width. A wider chest does not necessarily mean a longer body, and sleeve measurements depend on shoulder placement.

If you are still deciding, ask about the fit with the product name and your comparison measurements. The chart describes the garment; your preferred silhouette determines how much room you want.
