Good everyday clothes earn their place through fit, comfort and versatility. A quieter wardrobe can still have character: a faded finish, a boxy hem or a contrast seam can do as much for an outfit as a bold graphic.

What makes a piece worth buying?
Start with the clothes you reach for most. Note their length, room through the body and how they feel against your skin. Use those details to judge a new piece, rather than assuming a higher price, heavier fabric or smaller production run guarantees quality.

- Fabric: read composition, weight and care instructions together.
- Details: look closely at seams, cuffs, hems and closures in product photos.
- Versatility: imagine three outfits using clothes already in your wardrobe.
- Ordering: check your chosen size and colour for availability and dispatch information.
Boxy, relaxed and oversized are different fits
Boxy usually describes a wider body relative to its length. Relaxed gives you room without necessarily changing the proportions dramatically. Oversized adds deliberate volume, often through the shoulder and body.
Sizing up does not automatically create a boxy shape. Compare chest width and body length first, then sleeves and shoulders. Measure a favourite garment flat and use the SOL size guide and the table on the product page. Check whether a measurement is a flat width or a full circumference.
Try a roomy top with straight trousers for contrast, or a shorter boxy top with wide trousers for a looser silhouette. There is no fixed ratio that works for every body or outfit.
Fabric weight is only part of the story
GSM means grams per square metre. It helps compare fabric weight, but it does not prove durability on its own. Fibre composition, knitting or weaving, construction and care all matter. A lighter tee may suit warm weather; a denser fleece may suit a cooler day.
The Overcast Zip Hoodie, for example, lists 360gsm fleece with 30% cotton and 70% polyester. Read each piece's specifications individually rather than assuming every SOL garment uses the same fabric.
Vintage, snow and sun-fade finishes describe different visual effects. Use the product photos to choose the look you want. A washed finish is not a promise that a garment cannot shrink or fade.
Three outfits to make your own
- Everyday layers: a tee, an open zip hoodie and straight or relaxed trousers. Try two neutral tones and let the layers add depth.
- A boxy silhouette: a shorter, wider tee with wide-leg trousers. Check where the hem lands so the proportions feel right to you.
- Warmer days: a tee with relaxed shorts and your usual trainers. Choose the fabric weight for the weather and your comfort.
Keep the pieces you already like. Build a small rotation around two or three tops, a useful layer and bottoms you can wear with each. Add another piece when it fills a real gap.
Care for the specific garment
Follow the care label and product instructions first. For the Overcast Zip Hoodie, the listed instructions are a cold gentle wash, no bleach, low tumble drying and low ironing away from print; do not dry clean. Other fabrics and finishes may need different care.
